Alguns guias que falam de Hotel American Dinesen l
Despite its potentially unromantic name (did you travel transatlantic for this?), the Hotel American is recommended for both its style and its substance. One of the nicest of Venice's moderate hotels, it has the perfect combination of old-fashioned charm and utility. This three-story hotel located near the Peggy Guggenheim Collection offers a dignified lobby and breakfast room dressed with lovely Oriental carpets and marble floors, polished woods, leaded-glass windows and French doors. The best choices are the larger corner rooms and those overlooking a quiet canal; some have small terraces. Every room is outfitted with traditional Venetian-style furnishings that usually include hand-painted furniture and Murano glass chandeliers. If it's late spring, don't miss a drink on the second-floor terrace beneath a wisteria arbor dripping with plump violet blossoms.
The pleasant American is a well-run and popular hotel with friendly service. Set on the delightful rio di San Vio, its generally spacious rooms are decorated in antique Venetian style; some have verandas with bright geraniums and look over the canal. Try to secure one of the corner rooms where multiple French windows make for wonderful light. There's a tiny terrace where breakfast is served under a pergola.
This quiet, family-run hotel has a yellow stucco facade typical of Venetian houses. A hall decorated with reproduction antiques and Oriental rugs leads to a breakfast room reminiscent of a theater foyer, with red velvet chairs and gilt wall lamps. Guest rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished in sage-green and delicate pink fabrics with lacquered Venetian-style furniture throughout. Some front rooms have terraces with canal views. A water taxi can deposit you directly in front of the hotel on arrival, and although the four-story building has no elevator, you'll have assistance with your luggage if needed. The exceptional service will help you feel at home at the hotel and in Venice. Pros: High degree of personal service; located on a quiet, exceptionally picturesque canal. Con: Lack of elevator will be a problem for some.
